They are firmer than auto cleaner hose.
Same as hand vac hose.

I just baught a Baracuda mx8 pool cleaner, before connecting it I tested the suction as per instructions in manual. it recommended suction be 2.5 but mine max out +9 on the gauge. I have a waterco S600J sand filter & a waterco supastream 150 pool pump @ 55000lt. from what I am reading on the net it suggest my pump is to big for this filter, can you confirm. note pump running without cleaner runs fine connect cleaner I get air bubbles coming out of my return outlets>>>

My kreepy krauly (old model) does not sit flat on pool to "skin". Sits about 45 degrees as if hose is pooling it down. I have changed skin etc . If there some sort of float

If there are any weights (rings) on the hose. Please take them off.

There is a little float in the top of the head of the cleaner, but sufficient I think to make any difference.

Sorry pool cleaners have no single answer as they seem to work different in different pools.

About the only exception to this is the V1 robotic cleaner.

Unless you have a pool with very square corners on the floor or walls, as opposed to rounded edges between them. All the common cleaners will clean the walls as well.

Is there a limit on how far the pump can be from the filter box - my pool is an inground pool.I,m referring to the Mamba X5 pool cleaner. How reliable are they?

The Mamba X5 is an entry level basic cleaner. To our knowledge they perform well in most pools. Sometimes the pool design is able to have any suction cleaner stick around steps or edges though.

The leafwizard comes with its on hose and suction devices.
As it is a different cleaner, it will probably need to run at a different pace than the Manta you have. Not knowing how fast the Manta is running now...

The hoses are designed for auto cleaners. They dont use as much suction as the hand vac hoses.
If there is a restriction at or near the cleaner head, the hoses will collapse. this is reasonably common to see.
If you adjust the suction to a suitable amount for the cleaner this shouldnt occur. The cleaner should be about 3 pulses per 2 seconds as a rule of thumb.
As this is sight unseen I have picked the most common reasoning.

All the cleaners with a circular skirt or disc tend to make a pulsing noise of some sort.
The turbine driven cleaners dont make a noise except for the occasions when they break through the surface of the water. If noise is a large concern then you can turn the suction/speed of the cleaner to minimize this.

Having just spoken to Zodiac. They have said it may have problems if the module is at one endo f the pool. They perfoem better when the trolley and power unit are in the centre of the length of the pool.

The V1 is an entry level robotic cleaner. It has smaller debris bag and is unable to clean the walls of the pool.
The V3 and V3 4WD has a far more robust drive system and guidence, as well as larger debris bags. The 4WD model is a better option where you have seats and swimout areas.

Depending on the leaf drop, most cleaners will struggle with the volume of leaves you might be suggesting.
You might be better served with a leaf collector while the leaves are floating on the water.
If the leaf drop is only for a short period a cleaner such as the Zodiac V3 may work well for you, but you would have to clean out the internal basket daily.....
A leaf rake and elbow grease might also work well?

I have a concrete pool and recently ( 6 months ago ) fitted a new yellow weighted spur to my Mantra pool cleaner and it is already wearing through to the lead weight. Is there a spur that is better suited for a concrete pool ?

Sounds like too much weight on the hoses and dipping the cleaner down allowing the spur to rub excessively.
The cleaner should sit with the main tube at 45deg.

Yes generally adding extra will help it move. As a rule of thumb you need 2 more lengths than the furtherest most point the hose must reach.
